How To Make Your Home Smell Great

You know those homes you walk into that just smell amazing? That could be your home too, it's easy!

Always living in a home with pets myself, I've tried so many different ways to get that "wow your house smells so good" factor.
Here's a few things that have worked for me:
1. Simmer Pots
Boil some water and toss in any fruit that may be going bad (prevents waste!). My personal favorite is lemons, rosemary & a few drops of vanilla extract. Another go-to is oranges, cinnamon (sticks or powder) & vanilla extract. Let this sit on low for about an hour and your house will smell great!
2. Fake Bake
Place a couple of drops of vanilla extract on an oven safe dish & place in the oven for about 15-20 minutes. This will have your home smelling like fresh baked cookies.
3. Candles
My personal favorite. If you know me, you know I always have a candle lit in my house. If you're looking for a local candle shop to support, check out Triple Decker Candle Co in Dorchester.
4. Laundry Scent Boost Beads
They're not just for your laundry! Take about 1/3-1/2 cup of these and put them into a spray bottle with hot water. Shake to mix & you're done! Use this as a "febreeze" substitute and spray to freshen up areas. It lasts for a long time and makes your home smell so fresh. My go-to is Downy Calm lavender beads.
5. Car Vent Air Fresheners
I'll admit, I stole this one from TikTok! You know those air fresheners you can buy to stick in your vent in your car? Those work in your home too! If you have forced air, you can put these in your vents & they'll have the same effect they'd have in your car.
6. Fresh Flowers
One thing I'll never get tired of is a fresh bouquet of flowers, and I can't leave Trader Joe's without buying some! They really elevate your space looks and smell wise. If you do have pets who are curious like my cat, be sure to get flowers & plants that are non-toxic to pets. Some flowers, although beautiful, can be extremely toxic to pets.
